CO2 Laser Resurfacing

The DOT (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) Therapy SmartXide laser™ is a fractionated CO2 laser that creates microscopic dot’s in your skin, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. DOT Therapy™ leaves islands of healthy tissue surrounding the microscopic dots. This enables your skin to heal more rapidly and minimizes overall damage. Patients are often amazed at how tight their skin feels immediately after the procedure.

What will it treat?

This laser is ideal for the treatment of sun damage, brown spots, fine lines, superficial to deep wrinkles, skin laxity/texture and acne scars. Dot Therapy™ can reverse the appearance of aged or sun-damaged skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, and minimize acne scars.

How does it compare to the traditional CO2 lasers?

DOT Therapy™ is a pioneer in the world of CO2 laser resurfacing treatments. Before the DOT™, many patients endured long, often painful laser resurfacing procedures with lengthy recoveries in order to achieve skin rejuvenation. Historically, many procedures involved vaporizing an entire layer and surface of skin, resulting in significant downtime, discomfort and prolonged redness. In addition, old CO2 lasers could not treat non-facial areas like the neck and décolletage easily because skin in these areas did not heal as well as the face.

What areas can be treated?

Virtually any part of your body with uneven skin tone, acne scars, fine lines and uneven skin texture can be treated. Typical areas most commonly treated are the face, neck, chest, and hands. The RoxSpa practitioner can adjust the laser’s settings to tailor the treatment and obtain the best results for you. Adjustments can be made throughout the procedure to more accurately treat specific areas of concern, such as acne scars on the cheeks, or fine lines around the mouth and eyes.

What to expect?

After a treatment plan has been formulated for your specific skin condition, your practitioner will provide you with protective eyewear. Prior to the procedure your practitioner may apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to make the procedure more comfortable during the treatment. During the treatment, the practitioner gently applies the hand piece to the skin and the resurfacing process begins. The treatment will take approximately 45 minutes.

What will I look like after?

Immediately following a CO2 DOT™ Laser treatment, you may notice reddening that is similar to a sunburn, which typically subsides within a few days. The redness continues for a few days. By day three or four, you will experience some peeling as your fresh and younger looking skin appears. In most cases, your skin will return to its normal appearance in about seven to ten days. During the recovery period, you will apply a hydrating cream to keep your skin moist and promote healing.

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases, excellent results can be achieved in a single session. However, patients with severe wrinkling or deep acne scars may benefit from a series of treatments spaced about 1-3 months apart. Your RoxSpa practitioner will advise you on what results you can reasonably expect.

When will I see results?

Many patients see significant improvement within one week of your CO2 laser treatment. Your complexion will be clearer and younger looking. The CO2 laser provides excellent long-term results with little downtime.

Good candidates for CO2 laser resurfacing are those with:

Fine lines around the eyes or mouth
Wrinkles around the eyes, mouth or forehead
Shallow scars from acne
Non-responsive skin after a facelift
